The new school year has crept up on us once again! Schools all over the country are bustling after the long summer break but how has your school’s website fared? Is it relevant and ready to engage with a new intake of parents?
If you haven’t updated your website in a while, don’t worry. Now is the perfect time to give it some time & attention to set you up for the year ahead.
Here are 5 simple things you can do to get your website ready for the new school year:
Review text content
Is all of your content still relevant? It’s a good idea to review all of the text content on your site regularly as things do change.
Most content management systems make it easy to update content and add or remove pages as necessary so that all of the information on your site is up to date. This will save a lot of confusion and frustration for parents!
Add new term & diary dates
Parents will be looking at your website for new dates for their diary so make sure they’re available and easy to find.
Add a “welcome back” message
This can be in the form of an announcement or news page and should give parents all of the first day back information they need. This also makes your school look up to date and lets the wider world know you’re open for business!
Update images
Do you have images of students who have long departed? Now is a great time to replace those with images which are more current. If you don’t have any recent images then the first week of term is usually a good opportunity to take some new pictures while students are looking their best!
Send push notifications on your school app
Push notifications are a great way to keep parents informed in the most convenient way for most people – direct to their smartphones. You can also make sure that information is relevant by setting up different updates for classes / year groups etc.
